WebEx Instructions for Attending Online Events and Meetings

Make sure your computer is ready

The WebEx Meeting Center runs in your computer's web browser.  See the WebEx System Requirements for more information about supported platforms

If you have never used WebEx, you can test your computer by joining a test meeting before the event.  There is usually a brief setup procedure that you must complete before using WebEx for the first time.

Note: WebEx works with most web browsers.  However, certain settings and security restrictions can sometimes prevent WebEx from working properly.  If you are having a problem starting WebEx, you may be able to quickly resolve it by using a different web browser on your computer.

Audio Options

To listen during the WebEx event, you must have one of the following:

  1. Computer with speakers or headphones: This will allow you to listen during the session. You can use the text chat feature to ask questions or make comments.
  2. Computer with speakers and a microphone: This will allow you to both listen and speak during the session. Many people use a headset that has a built-in microphone.
  3. Computer and a telephone: If your computer does not have speakers and/or a microphone, you can still listen and speak during the session by dialing into WebEx. The phone number and required access code will be provided in the email. Note: The phone number is long distance and toll charges may apply.

Connecting to WebEx

We will email log-in information to you 1-2 days before the event. Please connect at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Click on the link provided in the email to get to the meeting's information page.  To join the event, enter your name and email address in the box on the right-side of the page and click the Join button.  You will then be presented with the screen below.

Problems using WebEx?

If you are having any technical difficulties, first check the WebEx Knowledge Base. It has the most common instructions for trouble shooting technical problems and addresses many frequently asked questions.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to contact your regional library consortium office.  Someone will be available to answer your questions during the event.
